A survey of the life of Jesus quickly shows us how well he understood the need for community. Not only was his ministry submerged deeply into the local area in which he traveled, but Jesus actually lived in a very inter-connected way with others. He ministered while surrounded by a tight-knit group of friends. Those friends had diverse personalities, backgrounds and education levels. The common thread was their purpose, even though they each had a limited and growing understanding of all that purpose entailed. They lived, worked, served and socialized very closely. We all need that kind of healthy interaction with other believers. NHC Small Groups provide a great opportunity to build community with others in meaningful ways as you live out your faith. Consider which small group God may be leading you to! For more information on small groups, visit the links below. Men Youth “A small group offers a powerful expression of grace in contrast with the individual spiritual walk. Other people can give us expressions of God’s grace that we cannot produce for ourselves. In a good small group, people get from others things that they are unable to give or get for themselves.” -“Making Small Groups Work," by Dr. Henry Cloud and Dr. John Townsend “God designed us to live and thrive and reflect His beauty in community. We’re built for community–a supernatural environment that flows out of the living reality of Christ and what He has accomplished for us and placed in us. As surely as fish must live in water, so people must live in community.” -"Risking Church," by Jim Kallam Jr.; ©2003 Waterbrook Press |
