Marriage Preparation
Why Marriage Prep?
Invitations, flowers, dresses, cake, music - the list seems endless as you prepare for your wedding. Yet, consider how much, or little, planning goes into the marriage itself? We care about your marriage and future. Our goal is to give you some of the tools needed to maneuver the “for better and for worse” areas of marriage in a God-honoring way.

Marriage Preparation Blitz
If the dates of the Marriage Preparation Classes don't work with your schedule you can apply to do a blitz. A blitz is an individualized version of the class. Each couple meets with an instructor at a time that works for each of them. Covering the same topics and content, the blitz takes a minimum of 12 hours to complete.

The cost for the Blitz is $300 per couple. Blitz Application (pdf)

Why Marriage Prep?

  • Have I found my soul mate?
  • Are we compatible?
  • Am I really in love?
  • Is it realistic to expect my partner to change if he or she has irritating habits?
  • How can we divorce-proof our relationship so that, if we get married, we won't get divorced?

What do we get in our Marriage Prep Class?

Professional Instruction: Patti and Ken Brown have taught hundreds of couples how to have a successful marriage. They bring their foundation of scriptural instruction, blended with life experiences to help you deeply prepare for your marriage. Patti is a licensed counselor.

Quality Materials: We use, as a foundation, the “Prepare to Last” couple kit created by Life Innovations. This kit includes:

  • Prepare to Last Couple Check Up tool. This online assessment gives you an inside look at your relationship. This tool by itself costs $30.00.
  • Three interactive DVD’s by marriage instructors Debbie and Jeff McElroy, workbooks and a CD of guided date nights.
This packet of materials retails for $80.00.

In addition, you receive the Taylor Johnson Temperament Analysis Assessment. This tool charts general trends in your personality. This is useful in learning how couples can work together with those temperament traits in mind. This tool normally costs $30.00 per person.

Other books you’ll receive include, “Visionary Marriage” by Dr. Rob Rienow, an $11.00 value and “A Celebration of Sex” by Dr. Douglas Roseneau, an $18.00 value.

You also receive a 1-2 hour counseling session with our Family Pastor in order to go over all your assessment results. Further materials may be given if desired or needed.

Upon completion of the class you also receive a certificate, which entitles you to a discounted rate of $75.00 off the cost of your marriage license by the State of MN.

Finally you will be asked if you wish to have a mentor couple who will walk with you for a one year period of time and help guide you as you begin your marriage.

You're making a wise choice with Marriage Prep Class!
