Frequently Asked Questions
Can anyone hold a funeral service at New Hope Church?
Funeral services at NHC are typically reserved for members and regular attendees of New Hope Church. If the church is available, we will be privileged to offer funeral support to non-attendees as well.
What are my first steps to planning a funeral?
Notify the NHC church receptionist between Monday and Friday, 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m., at 763-533-2449. After office hours and on weekends, call the "Pastor-On-Call" at 763-229-9204. The church Funeral Coordinator will be contacted and will, in turn, contact you. The Funeral Coordinator works as a liaison between the funeral home, the church staff, the pastor and the family.
Is there a fee for using the church for funeral services?
We extend no facility charge for New Hope Church members and regular attendees to use the facility for funerals. If additional help is needed in the areas of custodial and sound ministries, there may be a charge. Non-attendees using the facility may also incur a charge.
When is the church available for funeral services?
Monday afternoons through Fridays.
Funerals and memorial services are scheduled with top priority over almost all prescheduled events, the exceptions being weddings and major conferences. The facility is not available on Saturdays, Sundays and Monday mornings unless there are extenuating circumstances and the day is approved in advance by our Senior Associate Pastor. On occasion, a weekday evening may be considered a possibility depending upon church availability.
Where are funeral services held at New Hope Church?
Depending upon availability and the size of the service, they are typically held in the Worship Center, Ministry Center or Sandberg Chapel.
Are meals provided for funeral services?
New Hope Church Food Service provides coffee, lemonade and cake or cookies to members and regular attendees without charge as a New Hope Church ministry for funeral service receptions.
In addition, NHC Food Service provides three meal options at a charge. Contact Food Service at 763-536-3126 for more information regarding menus. An invoice for the meal charges will be mailed to you shortly after the funeral service. (Only light refreshments are available for evening funeral services.)
In the rare event that NHC Food Service is not available, catering and food service labor must be purchased from a commercial establishment.
